Best Friends say no bunnies for Easter

And so does HRC! Bunnies are given as kids in Easter baskets, but then quickly forgotten and abandoned. The cycle makes the life of rabbit rescues very difficult.

Bunnies are cute, but they’re long-term commitments. They make great pets, but they require lots of care and devotion on the part of their humans.

Please don’t get a bunny unless you’ve done the research necessary. And please consider adopting a bunny, not buying one!

Why I love Best Friends in Utah

Check out this video. Thank God there are places like this with people like this, who will do “whatever it takes” for an animal in need. (Best Friends is the animal sanctuary that brings you DogTown on the National Geographic Channel.)

Best Friends' Easter bunny initiative

Not only does the House Rabbit Society have an Easter bunny program called Make Mine Chocolate, but so does Best Friends, who is trying to rebuild their bunny shelter. Good luck, Best Friends! You’re doing great work over there!

What's going to happen to Michael Vick's dogs?

Well, glad you asked! They’re going to be rescued. It’s really what Best Friends does best — go where they’re needed most. They have an organization like you wouldn’t believe. Sign up for their newsletter for regular updates on how good people can make a difference.

BTW, “Pits tend to be very loving and affectionate dogs,…They are smart and very athletic. It can be a lot of fun working with them.” Don’t knock ‘em before you tried ‘em.
